Why I Started TheHomeschoolingCompany

I wanted a curriculum that left room for the things I cared about. Building it myself showed me how much work families were being asked to do.

The team behind TheHomeschoolingCompany

Hi! I'm Andrew, a former homeschooler and the founder of TheHomeschoolingCompany. I was a student in public school until my sophomore year of high school, when I decided to take my education into my own hands. I know first-hand how much of a difference personalized learning can make, so I decided to create a platform that makes it easy to start homeschooling.

The idea of leaving the relative "safety" of public school, the conventional path, was a hard sell to my parents. I had to convince them that homeschooling was a viable option, that I would be able to get into a good college, and have the basis for a successful career. I spent months trying to convince them that homeschooling was something we could make work.

That's why I created TheHomeschoolingCompany. Melding the best parts of various curricula and learning styles into something cohesive was difficult, and simply not available in one place. I wanted to remove all of the friction from the process of homeschooling, and learning in general, so that it would be push-button easy to get started.

Even once I started homeschooling, it wasn't as individual as I had dreamed it would be. I had to spend hours searching for resources, and I still had to piece together a curriculum that would work for me. TheHomeschoolingCompany is designed to make that process easy and engaging for parents and students alike.

Homeschooling has given me the freedom to create TheHomeschoolingCompany, and I want to give that same freedom to other students for whatever their interest is.

Madi

Head of Student Success

Hi, I’m Madi. For the longest time, I wanted to be a high school physics teacher. I got lucky with a few teachers who cared more about understanding than memorizing, and it flipped a switch for me. I started teaching myself stuff outside of class, going deeper just because I wanted to, and that’s where my love for learning really came from. That curiosity and excitement to learn more is such a core part of who I am, and I wanted to spark that in other students, one classroom at a time.

At TheHomeschoolingCompany, I get to scale that impact. I’m working to make it easier for families to build a learning experience that actually fosters creativity and curiosity, where a student can explore what they’re interested in and think bigger. It’s honestly everything I wish I had, and there’s nothing I’d rather be doing than this. Every kid we’re able to bring this to genuinely fills my heart.

What We're About

Built by a Homeschooler

I went through everything you're going through. The uncertainty, the curriculum hunting, the convincing. I built what I wished existed.

Making It Easier

Less friction for parents, less busywork for students. Homeschooling shouldn't require you to personally deliver every lesson.

Their Interests, Their Pace

What we all wanted homeschooling to be: learning that adapts to your kid's interests and pace, not the other way around.

What TheHomeschoolingCompany does

You choose your child's subjects and tell us their interests. We build coursework from their starting level, so you can follow their learning without preparing every lesson.

Inside a physics lesson on momentum, with reading checks and mentor help

Subject paths for grades 3-12

Each subject starts at your child's level. Readings, practice, and project questions connect the skills to their interests.

Foundations for kindergarten through grade 2

Instructions are read aloud, and your child answers by voice or tap. Early reading, language, and math lessons use their interests, with an adult nearby to help.

A mentor across every subject

Our Always-On Mentor sits beside every reading and project. It answers what your child highlights, offers help when they seem stuck, and draws ideas on its board.

Projects and assessments

Hands-on projects and assessments are built into each course, so you are not hunting for extra materials. Each one is graded with written feedback the moment it is submitted, so you never grade.

Attendance, reports, and transcripts

Attendance is saved when your child checks in each day, and the Parent Dashboard sums up each week. We generate transcripts and state-aware document drafts, ready to export.

Free placement and homeschool tools

A free placement diagnostic finds your child's starting point before monthly billing begins. Free tools include a requirements checker, schedule generator and transcript generator.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a homeschool transcript?
Yes. We generate it from your child's courses, with credits and grades filled in, ready for your signature as the homeschool administrator.
Do I have to teach every lesson?
No. Each lesson teaches the idea itself, and the mentor answers your child's questions along the way. Their work is graded the moment they submit it. You choose the subjects; young children work with an adult nearby.
Is TheHomeschoolingCompany a school?
No. We are a homeschool curriculum. Your family homeschools under your state's law, and we do the work around it: the coursework and grading, plus drafts of the state documents you sign and file.
Who writes the lessons?
Our curriculum system writes each lesson for your child. Every course follows a planned sequence of skills, and the system writes the readings, examples, and projects, starting at your child's level and drawing on their interests.
Can we try your curriculum before monthly billing begins?
Yes. Single Subject and School in a Box both include a 14-day trial, so your child can try real lessons before the first subscription charge. Setup for a child under 13 may require a separate refundable verification charge.
