Is personalized homeschooling right for your kid?

The useful question is not whether children benefit from individual attention. It is what personalization changes during an ordinary school day, and whether that way of learning fits your family.

What changes

Personalization means the learning responds to your child.

The starting point reflects what they already know. The pace changes when they need more time or are ready to move ahead. Feedback responds to the answer they just gave, and the next lesson follows from the work they have completed.

What personalization changes

The starting point

Your child can begin with work that matches what they already know instead of repeating an entire grade-level sequence.

The pace

They can spend longer on a difficult idea and move ahead when they are ready instead of waiting for a class.

The examples

A lesson can connect new ideas to subjects your child already cares about, making the material easier to enter.

The feedback

Help can respond to the answer your child just gave and point to the specific idea or step that needs another look.

The Aristotle standard

The useful standard is sustained attention to the learner: notice how they think, adjust the challenge, and respond to the work in front of them.

A full-time expert tutor is unrealistic for most families. Our aim is to make that kind of responsive help available during ordinary study.

Why individual attention helps

Benjamin Bloom's 1984 tutoring research found a large difference between students receiving one-to-one tutoring and students learning in a conventional classroom. The practical point is simple: immediate explanation, adjusted pacing, and repeated practice can matter.

A classroom teacher may be responsible for thirty students at once. They cannot continuously change the pace and explanation for every learner. Students who are ahead can become bored; students who need more time can lose the thread.

Individual attention gives each child more room to pause, retry, ask a question, or move ahead. It does not guarantee that every explanation will work. It creates more chances to notice when something did not land and do something useful about it.

What this looks like during the day

The learner dashboard makes the next piece of work clear, so your child can return to where they left off.

Judge the fit in an ordinary school day

A good fit is something you can observe. During the trial, have your child finish a lesson and ask the mentor about a confusing part. Their answers are graded as soon as they submit them, and the Parent Dashboard shows what they understood and where they still need help.

Young children still need an adult nearby. We supply the teaching, the practice, and the grading.

The mentor is software, not a live teacher. If your child relies on services from their current school, arrange that support before changing schools. Use the trial to judge whether the reading, activities, and feedback work for your child.

Budget for the arrangement you will actually use. You can start with one subject or choose School in a Box for up to 12 subjects. Care, outside activities, and supplies have their own costs. Removing lesson planning from your evenings does not make those other costs disappear.

Try one subject and see whether your child can explain what they learned.

FAQ

Is the mentor a person?
No. The Always-On Mentor is software, not a live tutor, so it is there at any hour your child works. It sees the page in front of them, which lets it explain that exact passage, offer a hand when the work gets hard, and coach them through a quiz question without supplying the answer.
