Spanish for your homeschool

By , founder of TheHomeschoolingCompany. Reviewed .

Your child listens, speaks, reads, and writes in Spanish, with practice that grows from everyday exchanges into longer explanations.

A lesson built around your child

Spanish-language fluency includes following how a public question changes across communities, audiences, and historical contexts.

Lesson
The Same Issue, Different Communities
Goal
Use authentic sources and recorded speech to compare one issue across two Spanish-speaking communities.
Spanish lesson "The Same Issue, Different Communities": the lesson opening, its goal, and its project

How a lesson works

  1. A 9-minute reading

This example lesson comes from the unit on authentic sources, comparison, and presentation. It moves from “Authentic language carries a position” to “Comparison needs evidence in Spanish” and builds to one idea: a good cultural comparison keeps the language specific enough that difference does not become stereotype.

  2. Help inside the reading

When a Spanish conversation stalls, our Always-On Mentor can help your child find a word or phrase that keeps the exchange moving. Your child can also highlight any line of “The Same Issue, Different Communities” to ask about it or ask for a visual, and the mentor offers help on its own when they seem stuck.

  3. A check halfway through

Your child answers “Why should a Spanish comparison use specific source language rather than general impressions?” before reading on, and the Reading Check at the end asks new questions.

A project your child hands in

Investigate one issue across two Spanish-speaking communities through authentic media, source notes, and recorded speech.

Questions parents ask

Which grades can use this Spanish curriculum?

Grades 3 to 12. The skill trees on this page show the units and skills by grade. Placement checks your child's current skills, so the first lesson can sit before or after their grade.

What should my child know before starting?

Starting skills include comfortable reading and writing in English and practicing out loud for a few minutes a day. No prior Spanish required. If placement finds a gap, the course starts with those skills.

How much of the teaching do I do?

None of it. The course explains each new idea and checks how your child uses it, while the mentor answers questions as they work. Every submission is graded as soon as it comes in, so you never grade it yourself.

Can I use the record for high-school planning?

Yes. The subject record holds every graded assignment with its written feedback, ready to export. We generate a transcript from the course records, ready for you to sign.
