How the Dual Credit Scholarship works

The Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) runs the Dual Credit Scholarship. A homeschooled student applies to KHEAA directly with its Dual Credit Scholarship Application, separate from the college's own admission.

Participating Kentucky colleges and universities charge every dual credit student no more than $99 per credit hour and no extra fees. For 2026-27 the scholarship is limited to one general education class, so a second class is billed to the family at that rate.

Remedial, developmental, repeated, and audited courses are not covered.

Before your child can enroll

  1. Grade and residence

Your child is a Kentucky resident in grade 11 or 12 of a Kentucky homeschool.

  2. Approved class

Your child is enrolled, or approved to enroll, in an approved general education dual credit class at a participating Kentucky college or university.

  3. College success session

Your child completes a 30-minute college success counseling session each year.

Enrolling in a college course

  1. First step

Pick the class with the college's dual credit office, then send KHEAA its homeschool application.

  2. What it costs

Books and any class beyond the one the scholarship covers are the family's cost.

  3. When to apply

For 2026-27, the fall deadline was October 1, 2026, and the spring deadline is March 1, 2027.
