How Early College works for homeschoolers

The Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) runs Early College at its colleges and at some high schools. The tuition-free courses are paid by the state's Dual and Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship program, subject to the money the legislature provides.

The course earns college credit at the community college. A college your child applies to later decides how much of that credit transfers.

Public and private school students qualify in grades 10 through 12. For homeschoolers, the rule is age instead of grade.

Before your child can enroll

  1. Age

Your child is 15 or older.

  2. Course placement

Your child meets each course's prerequisites and placement rules.

Enrolling in a college course

  1. First step

Ask an Early College coordinator at your nearest community college which courses have seats for homeschoolers this term.

  2. What it costs

After the two scholarship courses, Early College classes at a high school cost $150 each and classes on a college campus are half price. Course fees, textbooks, and materials may cost extra.

  3. When to apply

Contact the coordinator before the college's registration deadline for the term.
