Homeschool Dual Enrollment in Ohio
Yes. Ohio home-educated students can take College Credit Plus (CCP) courses at participating Ohio colleges, and if awarded funding, tuition is free at a public college.
How CCP works for homeschoolers
College Credit Plus lets students earn high school and college credit at the same time. All public colleges and certain private colleges in Ohio take part. Ohio Revised Code section 3365.03 lets a home-educated student who is the equivalent of a 9th to 12th grader apply, and the Department of Education and Workforce page for home-school families describes the program for grades 7 to 12.
Your child applies to the college under its own admission procedures and must be remediation-free on a state-approved assessment or meet an alternative eligibility option set by the chancellor of higher education, along with the college's admission and course placement standards.
Funding
The state pays the college for a home-educated student only if the student is awarded funding. Ohio sets aside a specific amount for home-school students, so an award is not automatic. The state pays nothing for a course your child withdraws from before the date when withdrawal would affect the grade.
Before your child can enroll
Parent applies for funding
A parent, not the student, creates an account in OH|ID, the state's login system, and submits the funding application.
College acceptance letter
You upload the acceptance letter from each college that admits your child.
Superintendent's letter
You upload the local superintendent's letter acknowledging that your child is homeschooled.
Enrolling in a college course
First step
Apply to the college first, then submit the funding application during the open window and register for courses once the award arrives.
Course and funding limits
Once your child attends college, the right to see college records moves from the parent to the student, whatever the student's age.
What it costs
Your family pays for textbooks, and private colleges may charge modest fees.
When to apply
Apply for funding between February 1 and April 1 at 5 p.m. for the whole 2026-27 year, with awards by May 6. The September 1 to November 1 window covers spring 2027 only, with awards by December 6.
A homeschool plan alongside college courses
We teach the subjects your teen takes at home and generate the homeschool transcript from that coursework.
