Homeschool Dual Enrollment in Wyoming
Yes. Wyoming homeschoolers can take dual enrollment courses at all seven community colleges and the University of Wyoming, and for 2026 the state set aside $750,000 to help colleges cover homeschoolers' dual enrollment costs.
How dual enrollment works for homeschoolers
Dual enrollment courses are college classes taught by college instructors. A public school student's courses are usually paid through the district reimbursement program in W.S. 21-13-341, which does not cover a homeschooler who is not associated with a district.
In 2026, the legislature gave the Wyoming Community College Commission a one-time $750,000 for each of the seven community colleges to put toward dual enrollment costs for homeschool and private school students that district funding does not cover.
Later, the Hathaway Scholarship is open to Wyoming homeschool graduates by ACT score, with no grade point average requirement.
Before your child can enroll
Juniors and seniors
Dual enrollment is mainly for juniors and seniors, typically 16 or older, who meet the course prerequisites.
Placement
A placement test may be required when your child has not met a course's prerequisites another way.
Enrolling in a college course
First step
Ask your nearest community college's dual enrollment office whether its share of the 2026 homeschool fund can pay for your teen's course.
What it costs
Whatever the college's homeschool funding does not cover is the family's to pay, along with books.
When to apply
Apply before the college's registration date for the semester you want, and leave time for a placement test.
A homeschool plan alongside college courses
We teach the subjects your teen takes at home and generate the homeschool transcript from that coursework.
$149/month per child after the trial.
