Students can stay until they finish graduation requirements or until the end of the semester they turn 20.

  3. Enters the ASD lottery

Full-time status requires at least four courses with two core courses. Language arts and math are required for grades K-8.

From enrolling to spending it

  1. Before you enroll

    Apply through the lottery

Submit the Q Online Lottery Application, then complete ASD online registration and proof of residency. After July 30, come into the office or call for enrollment steps.

  2. At enrollment

    Plan with a sponsor teacher

Your sponsor teacher helps you write the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) in the Online System (OLS). Every purchase has to tie to a course in it.

  3. During the year

    Requisition or get reimbursed

Requisitions, where Family Partnership orders for you, are the recommended method. Reimbursement requests are due within 60 days of the purchase and take about 4 to 8 weeks to pay.

  4. By April 30, 2027

    Place final requisitions

The last day to requisition goods and services, including ASD approved vendors, is April 30, 2027 at 3:30 p.m.

  5. Each spring

    Re-enroll

Returning students register online in late spring with new proof of residency. Unused allotment rolls over when your child re-enrolls.

What it pays for

ASD approved vendors bill the school directly, so you pay nothing up front; general vendors such as Amazon or Barnes & Noble go through a requisition or a reimbursement.

Who to contact

The school office at 4400 Business Park Blvd, Suite B-22, answers enrollment and allotment questions, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Anchorage School District part-time correspondence-class enrollment

Who qualifies

  1. Is in a correspondence program

Students in an Anchorage School District correspondence charter school or another statewide correspondence program can request classes, and the cost comes out of the allotment.

  2. Gets both principals' approval

The principal of the school where your child is enrolled and the principal of the receiving school both sign off. Students outside the district apply straight to the receiving school.

  3. Finds an open seat

Full-time students at their neighborhood school get first priority, then part-time ASD students, then part-time students from outside the district. Full classes go to a waitlist.

What a class costs the allotment

The Part-Time Class Enrollment Form posted by Family Partnership (revised May 2024) lists what ASD charges a correspondence student's allotment for each class.

Middle school class
$475
High school class
$475
King Tech High class
$1,425
Elementary art, music, or PE, once a week
$110
Elementary art, music, or PE, daily
$530

The amount for each class is written on the form your advisor signs, and ASD gives no refunds after the first day of class.

From requesting to attending

  1. From August 1

    Request fall classes

Submit the Part-Time Class Enrollment Request Form to your child's primary school with the courses and preferred times. Fall requests must be approved before the semester starts.

  2. By the 10th day of fall

    Get a decision

Families hear whether fall requests are approved or denied by the tenth day of the semester.

  3. December

    Request spring classes

The spring form opens before winter break, and requests are due no later than the tenth day of the spring semester.

  4. End of semester

    Allotment is charged

Your correspondence program verifies enrollment and transfers the class cost from your child's allotment to the district.

Frontier Charter School correspondence program

Who qualifies

  1. Lives in the Municipality of Anchorage

You must keep a physical address in the Municipality of Anchorage during the school year and show proof of residency when you enroll. Frontier serves Anchorage, Chugiak, Eagle River, JBER, and Girdwood.

  2. Enrolls full time at Frontier

Your child becomes an Anchorage School District student enrolled at Frontier, and you teach at home. New families must attend an informational meeting first.

  3. Takes four approved classes

Funding requires at least four approved classes, each with an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) written with an academic advisor, and at least half the coursework in core subjects.

  4. Uses secular materials

Religious, partisan, sectarian, or denominational curriculum and faith-based courses cannot be paid for with the allotment.

What it is worth

Frontier's 2026-27 allotment schedule pays full funding through October 2 and steps down each week after that.

K-8, enrolled by Oct. 2
$3,500
Grades 9-12, enrolled by Oct. 2
$4,300
K-8, enrolled Oct. 10-16 (50%)
$1,750
Grades 9-12, enrolled Oct. 10-16 (50%)
$2,150
Family internet bill
Up to $100/month

Enrolling October 17-23 earns 25%, and the schedule lists no percentage from October 24 on, so ask whether your advisor can fund core curriculum after that date.

From enrolling to spending it

  1. Before you enroll

    Attend an informational meeting

Join a one-hour Zoom session at 12:30 p.m. or watch the recorded presentation, then email Frontier for enrollment information.

  2. At enrollment

    Meet your advisor

Show proof of Anchorage residency and plan your child's courses with a Frontier academic advisor.

  3. Before each class starts

    Get the ILP approved

Your advisor must approve the ILP for a course before any allotment money is spent on it.

  4. July 1 to March 6

    Spend through Brightways

Submit requisitions so Frontier buys from Amazon, curriculum sellers, and approved vendors, or request reimbursement for monthly bills and non-approved vendors.

  5. When your child leaves

    Return non-consumable items

Books, technology, and other lasting items bought with the allotment belong to Frontier and the district and must be returned when your child withdraws or graduates.

What it pays for

Covered

Not covered

Frontier prefers requisitions, where it pays the seller directly; reimbursement by check or direct deposit is for monthly bills and sellers it cannot buy from.

Who to contact

The Frontier front desk answers enrollment and general questions, and your academic advisor decides whether a purchase can use the allotment.

Questions parents ask

Between 25% and 75% of the allotment, by week: 75% for September 28 to October 9, 50% for October 12-16, 25% for October 19-23, and nothing after October 23.
Can my child take more than one ASD class?
Yes, up to 1.5 credits a semester. Multiple classes must be scheduled back to back.
