Homeschool benefits: Craig City School District

PACE Statewide Homeschool, run by Craig City School District, gives each full-time student a 2026-27 allotment of $2,200 for grades K-2, $2,400 for grades 3-8, or $2,600 for grades 9-12. Any Alaska resident can enroll free; the full amount goes to students enrolled before the October count period, which ends about October 23.

Who qualifies

  1. Lives in Alaska

A child must live in Alaska to enroll. PACE is a public school, so enrollment is free.

  2. Is of school age

Kindergartners must meet the state age cutoff, and students under 20 who have not finished 12th grade can enroll.

  3. Takes four or more courses

Full time means 4 to 10 semester courses with PACE, half of them core. Three or fewer courses get a proportionally smaller allotment.

  4. Has a signed learning plan

You complete a Student Learning Plan (SLP) with your Alaska-certified contact teacher before you order materials or ask for reimbursement.

What it is worth

The 2026-2027 PACE Parent Handbook sets the allotment by grade and number of courses.

K-2, full time
$2,200
Grades 3-8, full time
$2,400
Grades 9-12, full time
$2,600
Grades 9-12, two courses (50%)
$1,300
Pre-K sibling of a PACE student
Up to $200

Allotments are prorated by days enrolled during the state count period, students who enroll after it get no allotment, and only half of the allotment can be spent each semester.

  3. After July 1

Core curriculum gets funding priority. Internet and tutoring reimbursements go in monthly with a scanned receipt.

  4. January 15 and May 15, 2027

    Meet reimbursement deadlines

First semester receipts are due January 15 and second semester receipts by May 15.

  5. By the last business day of September

    Re-enroll to keep leftovers

Re-enroll by then and any remaining balance rolls over, used after the new year's allotment runs out.

Questions parents ask

Can my child also attend our local public school part time?
Yes, for up to two classes outside PACE with a Dual Enrollment Form on file. The allotment is reduced for each dual-enrolled class.
Do we return what we buy?
Only items over $99.99. Those are non-consumable and go back to PACE at the end of the school year; cheaper items are consumable and stay with you.
