Homeschool benefits: University of Alaska Southeast
The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) lets homeschooled high school students take its college classes through Dual Enrollment, earning college credit that your homeschool can also count toward graduation. Tuition for 2026-27 is $251 per lower-division credit, about $753 for a three-credit class, and UAS offers the Forrer Family Dual Enrollment Scholarship to help cover it.
Who qualifies
Ready for college-level work
UAS welcomes high school and homeschool students who are ready for college-level work. An advisor talks with your student about whether their skills are a good match before registering.
Applies as a dual enrollment student
Your student completes the UAS online application as a dual enrollment student one time, then claims a UA username in ELMO.
Has a signed parent agreement
You and your student both sign the Secondary Student and Parent/Guardian Agreement form, which is needed only once.
Places into writing or math
Writing courses need the Directed Self Placement assessment and math courses need the ALEKS assessment. SAT or ACT scores from the past year can replace the writing placement.
What it is worth
