Homeschool benefits and savings in Fort Collins
Fort Collins's Get FoCo Reduced Fee program sells income-eligible residents a one-year recreation pass for $72 per family, $45 per adult, or $36 per youth or senior, and the pass takes 90% off beginner classes and 70% off youth sports leagues. You qualify by uploading a Medicaid, SNAP, or Poudre School District (PSD) free or reduced lunch approval letter.

Buys a pass first
Buying the reduced fee pass is what turns on the class discounts, so buy it before you register for anything.
What the pass saves
Fort Collins lists the reduced fee passes and class discounts next to its regular resident annual pass prices.
- Family pass, one year (regular $720)
- $72
- Youth pass, under 19 (regular $360)
- $36
- Adult pass, ages 19-59 (regular $450)
- $45
- Beginner and introductory classes
- 90% off
- Intermediate, fitness, and youth sports leagues
- 70% off
- Advanced and competitive classes

Discounts are not applied after the fact, so a class you register for before buying the pass stays at full price.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Colorado
Give written notice to a Colorado school district 14 days before starting and each year the program continues. Notice is not required before age 6; instruction need not begin until age 7 or continue after age 16.
Colorado sets these rules:
- Subjects: Provide at least 172 days of instruction averaging four instructional contact hours daily, covering reading, writing, speaking, mathematics, history, civics, literature, science, and regular instruction in the U.S. Constitution.
- Testing: Academic evaluation in grades 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11: standardized test or evaluation by a qualified person.
- Records: Permanently keep attendance, test or evaluation results, and required immunization records; produce them on 14 days’ written notice when the superintendent has probable cause to believe the program is noncompliant.
- Teachers: Instruction is provided by a parent or legal guardian, or an adult relative designated by the parent; no teaching license is required.
