Homeschool benefits and savings in Greenwich
Greenwich Parks and Recreation youth scholarships take up to 75% off activity fees for your dependent children for the rest of the calendar year, one activity per child each season. Greenwich residents qualify by showing residency and their latest tax return, with no school-enrollment rule, so homeschooled children can apply.
Who qualifies

You apply for your own children, and each child must be listed as a dependent on your tax return.
Shows household income
Upload your most recent tax return. Where it applies, an unemployment statement or Social Security income statement can verify income instead.

Good to know
Homeschooled children can apply
Eligibility rests on Greenwich residency, your parent or guardian status, and household income on your tax return. The application asks for each child's school, and nothing in the rules requires enrollment in a public school.
Aid covers one session per child
Only one camp session per child gets scholarship aid. For more sessions, you register online and pay in full at registration.
Who to contact
The scholarship office answers questions about applications, award letters, and sports equipment, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Connecticut
State law does not require a homeschool notice. The State Department of Education asks parents to tell their local school district that they intend to homeschool, but that request is guidance, not a legal requirement.
Connecticut sets these rules:
- Subjects: Instruction in Connecticut must include reading, writing, spelling, English grammar, geography, arithmetic, US history, and citizenship.
- Testing: Connecticut does not require standardized testing for homeschoolers.
- Records: Connecticut does not require homeschool records, but keeping them is recommended.
- Teachers: Connecticut does not require a teaching certificate or degree to homeschool your own child.

Questions parents ask
- Is there an income cutoff?
- Not a published one. Staff review your total household income from your tax return, and they may ask for more documents.
- What if my child cannot attend after we register?
- Email the department in writing before the activity starts to get a refund or credit of your share. Children with poor attendance or no-shows lose scholarship eligibility for one year.
- Can the scholarship pay for equipment?
- Yes, if you are eligible and funds allow. Call 203-622-6472 about equipment at least two weeks before the activity starts.
Turn support into your child’s next lesson
Camps and local activities give your child new interests to explore. Their discoveries can shape the examples and questions they study at home.
$149/month per child after the trial.
