Is 18 or younger
BCT's youth fares are for riders 18 years old or younger. Adult fares start at 19.

BCT's fare page, updated August 13, 2026, lists youth fares next to adult fares for ages 19-64.
- One-way cash fare
- $1 ($2)

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Florida
You must file the initial written notice with the county superintendent within 30 days of starting. You must file a termination notice and the annual evaluation within 30 days of ending the program.
Florida sets these rules:
- Subjects: Parent-directed instruction; Florida law does not prescribe a specific curriculum for a home education program.
- Testing: Provide an annual educational evaluation using one statutory method; a portfolio review is one option, and an alternate method requires agreement with the district superintendent.
- Records: Keep a portfolio with an activities log made as instruction occurs, reading-material titles, and work samples. Preserve it for two years and make it available for inspection on 15 days’ written notice.
- Teachers: Florida does not require a teaching certificate or degree to homeschool your own child.
Florida also has two education savings accounts that home-educated students can use.
- The Personalized Education Program funds a Florida K-12 student's approved education costs through a scholarship organization, with income and priority rules. It is separate from registering a home education program with your district.
- The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities funds approved education and disability costs for a student with a qualifying disability, including one in a registered home education program. The award depends on the disability and its services.

Questions parents ask
- Can a homeschooled student dual enroll at Broward College?
- Yes, if your student is registered with the district Home Education Office and has college-level scores in reading, writing, and math.
- Do we pay for textbooks at Broward College?
- No. Broward College says instructional materials for dual enrollment courses are free to public, charter, private, and home school students.
- Can a homeschool graduate get Pledge2Success?
- Yes. Broward College lists eligible Broward County homeschool graduates of 2026 alongside public, private, and charter graduates. Your student must still meet the income, FAFSA, residency, and full-time enrollment rules.
- My student graduates in 2027. Is there a Pledge2Success cohort for us?
- Not yet announced. The current page covers only the class of 2026, with a July 1, 2026 deadline, so ask the college whether a 2027 cohort will open and when.
- Can a homeschooled child get the BCT youth fare?
- Yes. The youth fare depends only on being 18 or younger, and BCT asks for proof of age, not a school ID.
- Can my child ride the BCT express bus at a discount?
- Yes. The youth Premium Express one-way cash fare is $1.30. A youth pass holder pays a $1 upgrade to board an Express bus.
