Homeschool benefits: Henry County School District
Henry County Schools lets home study students who live in Henry County take the PSAT 8/9, PSAT/NMSQT, Advanced Placement (AP) exams, SAT School Day, ACT in school, and Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) at participating schools during the school day. Start with the district's Home School Testing Request Form; the PSAT is given October 21, 2026, and the first AP ordering deadline is November 13, 2026.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Georgia
You must submit the Declaration of Intent within 30 days after establishing the home study program, then by September 1 each subsequent year.
Georgia sets these rules:
- Subjects: Teach reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, for the equivalent of 180 school days each year with at least 4.5 hours per day.
- Testing: Use an appropriate nationally standardized test at least every three years beginning at the end of grade 3, administered in consultation with a person trained in norm-referenced testing. Retain the scores and assessment records.
- Records: The instructor writes an annual progress assessment for each student in each required subject. Keep these reports for at least three years and retain standardized-test scores and assessment records.
- Teachers: The teaching parent needs a high school diploma or GED in Georgia.
Georgia also has an education savings account that home-educated students can use.
- The Georgia Promise Scholarship pays up to $6,500 for 2026-27, but your child usually must have attended an eligible Georgia public school for two semesters, or be entering kindergarten, and withdraw before it is funded. It does not pay for a homeschool you already run.

Questions parents ask
- Does the Henry County request form sign my child up for the test?
- No. The form only connects you with your zoned school, which then gives you the steps to register.
- Will we pay anything for Henry County testing?
- Possibly. The district says home study families assume responsibility for financial obligations associated with the assessments, so ask your zoned school what, if anything, each test costs.
- Can my child test at a different school?
- Only for tests that are not given at every school, such as SAT School Day and ACT in school. For tests given everywhere, your child tests at the zoned school.
- Is the AP exam list the same at every school?
- No. The district says available AP exams differ by school, so check with your zoned school before the ordering deadline.
Turn support into your child’s next lesson
Put eligible education funds toward a curriculum that teaches the courses and grades the work. Check the program’s purchasing rules before paying.
