Homeschool benefits: Metropolitan Community College Kansas City
Homeschooled high school students pay half of Metropolitan Community College's standard tuition for dual enrollment classes, on campus or online: $63 per credit hour in-district, $123 out of district, or $166 out of state. The rate lasts until high school graduation, and you pay for books.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Missouri
No annual homeschool registration required. If withdrawing from public school, a written notice requesting removal from its rolls documents the change.
Missouri sets these rules:
- Subjects: For students under 16, offer at least 1,000 hours of instruction: 600 in reading, language arts, math, social studies, science, or related courses, including 400 at the regular homeschool location. The statutory hours and recordkeeping rules do not apply at age 16 or older.
- Testing: Missouri does not require standardized testing for homeschoolers.
- Records: For students under 16, keep a subject and activity record, a work-sample portfolio, and progress evaluations, or equivalent written or credible evidence.
- Teachers: No state teaching-license or degree requirement for a homeschool instructor.

Questions parents ask
- What if my student withdraws?
- Withdrawing by MCC's withdrawal date shows a W on the transcript, which does not affect GPA but can affect future financial aid. Drop by the refund deadline to avoid being charged.
- Do we qualify for the in-district rate?
- It depends on your school district. Families in districts such as Kansas City, Blue Springs, Grandview, Independence, Lee's Summit, or North Kansas City pay in-district, and residents of five Kansas counties, including Johnson and Wyandotte, pay the metro rate.
- How do we pay?
- Mail a payment, pay online through myMCCKC, or pay in person at a campus business office.
