Homeschool benefits: Central Community College
Central Community College (CCC) Early College lets Nebraska homeschool juniors and seniors take college courses for $16 or $50 per credit hour in 2026-27, instead of CCC's full $118. Your student must be at least 16, and the rate depends on which of two discount tiers applies.

Good to know
Homeschoolers get the discounted tuition
CCC welcomes all Nebraska high school and homeschool students, and the discounted tuition applies to homeschool enrollments. Your student needs to be a junior or senior and at least 16.
Ask which tier applies to your student's course
The rate depends on the tier, and CCC does not say which one homeschool students pay. Green Advantage is used when CCC or the school provides the instructor at no instructional cost, so ask the Early College Director which applies to your student's course.
Who to contact about Early College
The Early College Director oversees the program across CCC's campuses and can tell you which tuition tier your homeschool student pays.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Nebraska
You must file the annual exempt-school election and assurances with NDE by July 15. For a midyear start, file promptly and begin after NDE receives it. NDE advises waiting for that receipt before withdrawing. Include identity documents in your first filing. Report address and enrollment changes. An active abuse-investigation notice blocks withdrawal and new elections for 14 days after receipt or until further agency notice, whichever comes first.
Nebraska sets these rules:
- Subjects: Provide basic skills in language arts, math, science, social studies, and health, with 1,032 instructional hours annually for K–8 and 1,080 for grades 9–12. Midyear hours may be prorated. Curriculum details are no longer filed with NDE.
- Testing: Nebraska does not require standardized testing for homeschoolers.
- Records: NDE does not require progress reports or a prescribed portfolio. Keep immunization or exemption evidence unless you filed for religious reasons.
- Teachers: No formal education credential is required; assure that instructional monitors are qualified for the five basic subjects. Instructors and monitors cannot have convictions for the felony offenses specified in §79-1601(5)(b).

Questions parents ask
- We have no school counselor. Who helps us choose sections and find tuition help?
- CCC's Early College Success Coach or the staff in the Early College directory. CCC's instructions send families to a school counselor for class sections and tuition assistance, so ask CCC staff instead.
- Is there help paying the $16 or $50 rate?
- Possibly. CCC lists the Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship under financial assistance for Early College students and says tuition assistance may be available.
- Does my student need a placement test?
- Only for some courses. Courses that require specific test scores may need an assessment, and math courses may require a placement waiver.
