Homeschool benefits: Clark County School District
The Clark County School District (CCSD) lets homeschooled students take up to three courses and join activities, events, and sports at their zoned school when space allows. File the Notice of Intent to Homeschool, then the yearly Notice of Intent to Participate with a copy of your child's birth certificate, and show both receipts to the principal before the semester starts.
Who qualifies
Has a homeschool notice on file
The Notice of Intent to Homeschool and an educational plan must be on file with CCSD. The district mails or emails a receipt once it is processed.
Files the participation notice
Submit the State of Nevada Notice of Intent of Homeschooled Child to Participate in Programs and Activities with a copy of your child's birth certificate. It must be filed each year.
Uses the zoned school
Your child can take part only at the school they would otherwise be required to attend, and magnet programs are not open to homeschooled students.
Fits available space
Classes and activities other than sports are open only if space is available and no CCSD student is displaced. For sports, you show that your child meets academic eligibility rules.
What your child can join
The terms come from CCSD's Parent's/Guardian's Guide to Homeschool (revised July 16, 2025) and District Policy 5119.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Nevada
You must file a notice of intent and an educational plan with the resident district superintendent before starting, or within 10 days of formal public-school withdrawal or 30 days of establishing Nevada residency. Refile within 30 days of a parent or child name/address change; no annual renewal is required.
Nevada sets these rules:
- Subjects: Prepare an age-appropriate plan in English language arts, math, science, and social studies, including history, geography, economics, and government. Each subject need not be taught every year.
- Testing: Nevada does not require standardized testing for homeschoolers.
- Records: Keep the educational plan and proof of your child’s identity available if a court requires them. Nevada does not prescribe an annual portfolio or attendance report.
- Teachers: No state teaching-license or degree requirement for homeschool parents.

Questions parents ask
- Do we have to file with CCSD every year?
- The participation notice does. The Notice of Intent to Homeschool stays in effect up to 15 years unless a name or address changes or your child returns from public school.
- Does the district provide a ride to the school?
- Only under the same transportation rules as enrolled students, which Policy 5119 applies to homeschooled participants. Ask the zoned school how your child can get there.
- Can my homeschooled child take the PSAT or SAT?
- Yes. Homeschooled students can take the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Contact your child's zoned school for testing dates.
Turn support into your child’s next lesson
Local classes cover the subjects they offer. We teach the remaining subjects, so a local class can stay part of the year without becoming the whole curriculum.
$149/month per child after the trial.
