Homeschool benefits and savings in Marysville
Marysville Exempted Village Schools lets resident homeschooled students in grades 5-12 enroll part time for the school year: one unified arts course in grades 5-6, up to two electives in grades 7-8, and up to two elective or core courses at Marysville High School in grades 9-12, as space allows. Your child must first be excused to home education by the district for that school year.
Who qualifies
Lives in the district
Part-time enrollment is for residents of the Marysville Exempted Village School District.
Is approved for home schooling
The district must have approved your child for home schooling for the same school year, through the annual notification and the superintendent's excusal letter.
Is in grades 5-12
Part-time enrollment is not allowed for homeschooled students in pre-K through grade 4.
Meets the same requirements
Your child must be the right age and grade and meet the same academic, nonacademic, and financial requirements as any other student in the class.

- After enrollment
Schedule classes
Once the Enrollment Specialist confirms enrollment, the school contacts you to schedule classes based on available space.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Ohio
You must notify the resident district superintendent within five calendar days after beginning home education, moving into a district, or withdrawing from school, and notify annually by August 30.
Ohio sets these rules:
- Subjects: Provide instruction in English language arts, mathematics, science, history, government, and social studies.
- Testing: Ohio's current home-education law does not require an annual standardized test or academic assessment filing.
- Records: Keep copies of each notice and the superintendent's acknowledgment; the state does not require a routine portfolio submission.
- Teachers: Ohio's current home-education statute does not impose the former diploma-or-supervision requirement.
