Homeschool benefits: Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center
Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center waives tuition for two consecutive semesters after high school graduation through NEXT STEP. In-district homeschool graduates with at least a 2.0 high school grade-point average can apply for an eligible full-time career major.
Who qualifies
Lives in an eligible district
Your student must reside in the Choctaw, Harrah, Jones, or Luther school district. The 2026-27 handbook explicitly includes homeschool seniors upon graduation.
Meets academic and attendance rules
Your student needs at least a 2.0 high school grade-point average, a seven-semester transcript, and an instructor or high school counselor recommendation. They must not have violated high school or EOCTech attendance policies.
Applies in the graduation window
Apply and enroll within the year after graduation. The waiver lasts for two consecutive semesters in the school year following graduation.
Enters an eligible career major
Full-time career majors qualify except Firefighter/EMT Academy and Emergency Medical Technician Academy. Eligibility ends when your student completes a career major.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Oklahoma
Oklahoma law does not require a homeschool filing. The state education department recommends notifying the school when withdrawing a student; that recommendation is not a statutory approval process.
Oklahoma sets these rules:
- Subjects: Instruction should cover reading, writing, mathematics, science, citizenship, the U.S. Constitution, health, safety, physical education, and conservation.
- Testing: Oklahoma does not require a statewide standardized test for homeschoolers.
- Records: No routine state submission is required; attendance and work records are prudent evidence that instruction is being provided.
- Teachers: No state homeschool-parent credential is required.

Questions parents ask
- Is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid required?
- No, but it is strongly encouraged. The handbook does not list it as a NEXT STEP requirement, but it urges students entering Pell-eligible career majors to file so they can seek a Federal Pell Grant alongside the waiver.
- Can the scholarship fund emergency medical training?
- No. Both the Firefighter/EMT Academy and Emergency Medical Technician Academy are excluded from this waiver.
- What happens if grades fall below C?
- A nine-week grade below C leads to probation. A semester grade below C causes loss of the scholarship and tuition charges for the rest of the school year.
