Homeschool benefits and savings in South Brunswick
South Brunswick Parks and Recreation reduces or covers the fee for its own programs and camps for permanent South Brunswick residents who show household income, and you may pay a partial fee. Enrollment in a public school is not required, so a homeschool family applies with the same tax return and pay stubs as anyone else.
Who qualifies
Permanent South Brunswick resident
Only permanent residents of South Brunswick Township may apply, and the registrants must live at the address on the application.
Shows verifiable income
Attach one month of pay stubs for each earner and the first two pages of your latest federal 1040. Self-employed families send the full return with schedules and may need a year-to-date balance sheet.
Picks a township program
Aid is only for programs the South Brunswick Recreation Department runs, not other organizations' programs, facility rentals, permits, or the dog park.
Owes no past fees
Applications are not approved while recreation fees are still due on your Community Pass account.

Good to know
Permanent residents qualify regardless of school
Your homeschooled child qualifies if you are permanent South Brunswick residents. The application is based on household income and the township program, not on where your child goes to school.
Coverage depends on your income
The form asks how much you can afford to pay, and the director approves an amount and tells you any partial fee you owe.
Who to contact
The Parks and Recreation office answers questions about the application, and the director reviews each request confidentially.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in New Jersey
No routine annual notice. NJDOE identifies notice obligations after an unappealed denial of district enrollment and a transfer form when withdrawing an enrolled high-school student. A district may request documentation when credible evidence suggests noncompliance.
New Jersey sets these rules:
- Subjects: Provide instruction academically equivalent to the local public school for a child of similar grade and attainment. District curriculum approval is not required.
- Testing: New Jersey does not require standardized testing for homeschoolers.
- Records: No prescribed homeschool portfolio or routine reporting. Evidence of equivalent instruction is useful if a district requests documentation based on credible evidence of a compulsory-education violation.
- Teachers: No state teacher certification required for a parent or other person teaching at home.

Questions parents ask
- When should we apply for summer camp?
- By the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend in May. Later requests may be denied, and only one session per child per season is considered.
- Can we get help with a program another group runs at a township park?
- No. Other organizations have their own financial aid forms and policies, so contact them directly.
- Who sees our financial information?
- Only the department director reviews the application, and the township keeps it confidential.
