Homeschool benefits: Alpine School District
Alpine Online is a free Alpine School District public school for kindergarten through 8th grade students who learn at home, with online curriculum, a certified teacher who checks in weekly, monthly field trips, and physical materials for K-5. For 2026-27 it only enrolls students living inside Alpine School District boundaries, and new families go on a wait list once it reaches its enrollment cap.
Who qualifies
Lives in Alpine School District
For 2026-27, Alpine Online does not enroll new students living outside district boundaries, or district residents who are traveling abroad.
Enrolls as a public school student
Alpine Online is a public school, so your child enrolls in Alpine School District rather than staying a private homeschool student, and takes district and state tests.
Has a parent learning coach
Parents sit with K-2 students during lessons, stay nearby for grades 3-5, check work daily, and respond to the teacher's weekly contact.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Utah
Give the local school board a one-time initial notification when withdrawing a child to homeschool or choosing not to enroll. A letter of intent may be used. No annual renewal is required; a notification or affidavit already submitted by May 7, 2025 need not be replaced.
Utah sets these rules:
- Subjects: Utah does not prescribe homeschool subjects, instructional hours, or curriculum materials.
- Testing: Utah does not require a statewide standardized test for homeschoolers.
- Records: Utah does not require routine attendance, portfolio, or progress-report submissions for home education.
- Teachers: No homeschool-parent license or credential is required.
Utah also has an education savings account that home-educated students can use.
- The Utah Fits All Scholarship pays up to $4,000 for home-based students ages 5-11 and up to $6,000 for ages 12-18 in 2026-27, for approved learning costs.
- TheHomeschoolingCompany is an approved vendor for it.

Questions parents ask
- Can we join if we live outside Alpine School District?
- Not for 2026-27. Because of the enrollment cap, Alpine Online is not enrolling new students from outside district boundaries.
- How much parent time does it take?
- It depends on grade. Parents sit with K-2 students during lessons, which run about an hour per subject each day (two hours for K-1 reading and phonics), stay nearby for grades 3-5, and check work daily.
- Can my child take some classes at a regular school too?
- Yes. Alpine Online welcomes dual enrollment. Start it with the secretary or counselor at your boundary school.
Turn support into your child’s next lesson
Local classes cover the subjects they offer. We teach the remaining subjects, so a local class can stay part of the year without becoming the whole curriculum. We are an approved Utah Fits All Scholarship vendor, so your Odyssey balance can pay for it.
$149/month per child after the trial.
