Homeschool benefits and savings in Ogden
Ogden City Recreation cuts youth sports fees by 10% to 50% for Ogden families under federal poverty-based income limits, and the Marshall White Center adds up to 30% off memberships and a $60 starting scholarship for its youth programs. Residence and income decide eligibility, so a homeschooled child qualifies through household income proof.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Utah
Give the local school board a one-time initial notification when withdrawing a child to homeschool or choosing not to enroll. A letter of intent may be used. No annual renewal is required; a notification or affidavit already submitted by May 7, 2025 need not be replaced.
Utah sets these rules:
- Subjects: Utah does not prescribe homeschool subjects, instructional hours, or curriculum materials.
- Testing: Utah does not require a statewide standardized test for homeschoolers.
- Records: Utah does not require routine attendance, portfolio, or progress-report submissions for home education.
- Teachers: No homeschool-parent license or credential is required.
Utah also has an education savings account that home-educated students can use.
- The Utah Fits All Scholarship pays up to $4,000 for home-based students ages 5-11 and up to $6,000 for ages 12-18 in 2026-27, for approved learning costs.
- TheHomeschoolingCompany is an approved vendor for it.

Questions parents ask
- Can a homeschooled child get Ogden recreation fee help?

- Can Ogden refund fees we already paid?
- No. Families who qualify after paying for registration do not get a refund, so apply before you register.
- Does approval sign my child up?
- No. You still complete a registration form and pay the reduced fee to enroll.
- Does this application cover swim lessons?
- No. Marshall White Center swim lessons use a separate Learn to Swim Scholarship Application.
- Who answers Marshall White Center questions?
- Ogden City Recreation. Email recreation@ogdencity.gov or call 801-629-8346, the number listed on the application.
