Homeschool benefits and savings in Oshkosh
OASD eAcademy is free, full-time online public school for grades K-12, with certified Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) teachers, a Chromebook for every student, and an OASD diploma. Your child would enroll as an OASD public school student, and applications for 2026-27 closed August 5, 2026.
Who qualifies
Enrolls full time
eAcademy is only for full-time enrollment. There is no part-time or single-course option, so your child becomes an enrolled OASD student rather than a homeschooled one.
Applies through Infinite Campus
Use Online Registration under Shortcuts in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, inside the OASD Annual Update and Registration for the school year.
Is approved by the school team
The eAcademy team and the principal and team at your child's OASD home school decide each application together.
Keeps up with attendance
State law requires attendance for online courses. The district tracks it through login time, completed assignments, participation, and contact with teachers.

Good to know
Joining eAcademy ends homeschooling
A homeschooled child can join only by enrolling full time as an OASD student. eAcademy students stay enrolled at their OASD home school and earn an OASD diploma, so your child would no longer be homeschooled.
A January start may still be possible
The 2026-27 window for a fall start closed August 5, 2026. The elementary FAQ says semester transitions are handled case by case, so ask the registrar whether a January start is possible.

Homeschool rules and statewide help in Wisconsin
You must file PI-1206 with DPI each year between July 1 and October 15. For withdrawal from public or private school after October 15, submit or update it on or before the date attendance ends. Update it when changing districts or the number of enrolled children.
Wisconsin sets these rules:
- Subjects: Provide at least 875 instructional hours each year and a sequentially progressive curriculum in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and health.
- Testing: Wisconsin does not require standardized testing for homeschoolers.
- Records: Keep copies of submitted PI-1206 reports; DPI retains them for seven years. Detailed instructional records are recommended, with no routine state submission required.
- Teachers: Wisconsin does not require a teaching certificate or degree to homeschool your own child.

Questions parents ask
- Will my child be on a screen all day?
- No. Elementary work is mostly on the computer, with worksheets, projects, and experiments for the rest. High school students work about one hour per course each day.
- Can my child play sports or join clubs?
- Yes. eAcademy students can take part in extracurriculars at their OASD home school.
- Are there live classes?
- Yes, for elementary students, who have weekly live lessons that are recorded. In grades 6-12, teachers hold open office hours for extra help.
Turn support into your child’s next lesson
Local classes cover the subjects they offer. We teach the remaining subjects, so a local class can stay part of the year without becoming the whole curriculum.
$149/month per child after the trial.
